The Paper Players Challenge #60

Happy Wednesday!

This week LeAnne has created a sketch for The Paper Players Challenge #60.

For my card, I used Lovely Lilac CS & ink and Flowers for You DSP:

The 'faux fabric' flowers were created with 1 1/4" and 1" circles (click here to see Carolina's video). I spritzed them with Champagne Shimmer Mist and used glitter brads for the centers. As the sentiment is a clear stamp (PTI's In Bloom), I curved it a bit on the block so it would follow the oval (Spellbinders' Classic Ovals Large and Classic Scalloped Ovals Large). To finish off the card, I used sheer, shimmery ribbon (M's), a Recollections Pearl Brad, Sizzlet Swirls (Old Olive), and a few pearls.

As I am 'bow challenged,' I am quite proud of this bow. But, I must share my five-attempts to make it! I have seen a few tutorials on making bows by wrapping a brad around looped ribbon. Looked easy--ha! My first attempt I didn't flatten the prongs all the way. My second attempt and the loops slipped out of my fingers before I could tighten the prongs. Attempts three and four involved tying the bow first with baker's twine, but the knot kept slipping. I wasn't about to give up yet, oh no. On the fifth attempt I was able to tie the bow with the baker's twine and then add the pretty pearl brad!

Thanks for stopping by (and you can now stop laughing at my bow story!).

What a wonderful card. I like the colors you used. Your bow is great, I really like it. ( I guess I would need more than just 5 attempts to get a bow like that)

Regina

I think it's a great bow! (I tend to be "bow challenged" myself. I sometimes spend over an hour tying just one bow! Thanks for visiting my blog for the Flourishes Customer Appreciation Blog Hop. I hope you'll visit again soon. Good luck in the contest!
