3d-102 -- Flower Box

Happy Monday!

Last Tuesday's 3D challenge at PCP was to make a gift box topped with a flower embellishment. I chose to use the box template that Adela provided. The finished size is 2" x 2".

The box is Pretty in Pink, the swirls (Sizzlet die) are Certainly Celery, and the flower is Sweet Pea DSP (retired). I used Pretty in Pink and Rose Red (retired) 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

In case you are wondering about the flower, you can find the tutorial here. I made this one with pieces of 2" x 2" DSP.

Note: The previous time that I made this flower I used 1/8" red line tape, this time I used Tombow, as recommended in the tutorial. Both worked fine, but the glue was a bit messy for me.

Happy Friday!

This week's PPA challenge is all about letting the scallops flow.

My card base is Bashful Blue layered with Marina Mist and Colorbok Natural Speckletone. The speckled piece was embossed with Spellbinders Impressabilities Sea Scape, then the shells were sponged. The crab image (no make on the stamp) was stamped and embossed on watercolor paper, then colored with Dusty Durago and Real Red. I sponged Bashful Blue and Marina Mist around the image. The sentiment is from the Vintage Labels stamp set (retired). To make sure I kept with the 'scallops flowing across the card' theme, I hand-scalloped the inside layer. The two seashells are from WPlus9 Guiding Light stamp set.

I should now go and clean my craft table--it feels like it is covered in embossing power and sand (probably mostly sand as I had a little accident spooning it out of the bag)!

Tea Time--PCP 3d-101

Happy Monday!

Last Tuesday's 3D challenge at PCP was to make a tea-themed project using Adela's tea cup template.

Supplies used: Pale Plum & Perfect Plum card stock, GinaK Tea Time, Great Impressions (small tea cup), & SU Flowers of Gratitude stamp sets.

I wasn't very happy with my tea cup on the front of the project. It is kind of blah looking. It probably would have looked better if I used Shimmery White rather than Naturals White paper. Live & learn!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Last week, after seeing this card by Sharon, I immediately went to my craft room and made my own Valentine's version for my mother.

I came up with the neatest idea. Well, maybe all of you have already thought of it and used it, but it was a new lightbulb that went on for me! As I am bow challenged, I was having great difficulty tying the ribbon nicely to hold the card closed. So, finally, instead of tying the two pieces of ribbon into a bow, I used velcro to hold the ribbon together and glue dots to attach the bow. The bow looks (nearly) perfect and doesn't have to be re-tied each time the card is opened.

Supplies used: Pretty in Pink, Red Glimmer, and Very Vanilla card stock, Sending Love Specialty DSP (retired), Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, Well Scripted and Yummy stamp sets (both retired).

PPA80 - Vintage Theme

Happy Saturday!

When I received the SCS Weekly Inkling on Wednesday and saw the 'Quilt' tutorial, I thought it was so neat and definitely wanted to try it. Then, on Thursday, came the new PPA challenge, which is a vintage theme this week. I thought the 'quilt' would be perfect for the 'Those were the days' PPA challenge.

Creating 'vintage' is new to me and I finally used my distressing tool. The 'quilt' was quite easy to create.

Supplies used: Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla card stock, Country Living Holiday (retired) and Love Letter DSP, Tagger's Dozen and Too Terrific Tags stamp sets (both retired), and self-adhesive pearls.

You probably cannot tell from the photo, but I spritzed the Very Vanilla layer, the black tag, and the black circle with alcohol/Champagne shimmer paint.

I really like how this card turned out and already plan to make another one when my Bliss set arrives.

I Woof You

Happy Thursday!

Today's post is of a thank you card I made for Harry to send to Ann Marie. They are totally smitten with each other. She visits and takes him on marathon walks, gives him his bath, and lets him nap in her lap while she drinks her coffee. When my mother tells Harry that Ann Marie is coming to see him, he sits at the front door with his leash waiting for her to arrive.

I4U! Project #4 - Tropical Album

Happy Thursday!

There is a restaurant at the beach that I love going to when I am at my mother's house in NY. As I liked the 'Book of Love' so much, I made a 'Tropical' version for my mother with pictures from last year. I left the last pages blank so I can add new pictures that we take there this year.

So, here is the front cover:


First page (the left picture is of the closed-in part of the restaurant--we always sit outside, the right picture is my mother and my brother Kevin, with me, of course):

Supplies used: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, and Tempting Turquoise card stock, Hostess Pack, Island Oasis, and Sweet Pea DSP (all retired), Tropical Party (retired) and W Plus 9 Guiding Light stamp sets, Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, and rhinestones (girls' day out has got to include some bling!). I created the title in Word and printed it in Old Olive using the RGB values.

I think I should change the ribbon to Pumpkin Pie. What do you think?
