Challenges by AR--AR072811 Summer

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to the second challenge at Challenges by AR. Lyn is our host for this challenge and her theme is Blissful Summer with a Twist of Orange. I used the 3-Pocket Caddy template to create a Summer Pedicure Kit.

The front pocket contains a bottle of nail polish and a pair of toe separators.

For polish removal, I put a package of cotton rounds and Q-tips in the middle pocket.

In the back pocket you will find a nail buffer and mini hand cream.

Supplies used: SU Pumpkin Pie CS, Cosmo Cricket Half Shell patterned paper, My Mind's Eye Stella Rose ribbon, SU Tropical Party stamp set (retired).

Don't forget to stop by the Challenges by AR blog to get all the details on Lyn's challenge. The challenge link will remain open for one week. Following the close of the link, one 'Summer' template crafter will win a template of her/his choice from Creations by AR. I hope you get the opportunity to participate in this Blissful Summer with a Twist of Orange challenge!

Happy crafting!

Summertime...A Late Post

Happy Tuesday!

Three weeks ago my friend Diana and I spent a wonderful afternoon and evening together that included shopping, ice cream, and dinner. Yes, the ice cream came before the dinner!

Diana made this beautiful bag for me that was filled with heavenly milk and white chocolates:

I made Diana this post-it note holder (designed by Carla for the last I4U) and nugget purses:

I had meant to post my 'Summer' banner on the first day of Summer, but that somehow slipped by. Anyway, when I received the bird chipboard album (thanks Ann!), I knew right away that I wanted to decorate it for a banner. As I used DSP to cover the birds, I wanted to keep the embellishing simple. I used Prima flowers (so pretty edged with gold) for the 'eyes.'

Here's a picture of Harry catching some rays:

And, deciding to chill in the shade:

Blog Awards

Happy Sunday!

I was honored to receive two blog awards last week!

The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award is from Sandy, who does amazing coloring and intricate detail work.

And, A Thing of Beauty Award is from Lolis, who created the prize-winning Heart Box for the Wild Prints challenge at Challenges by AR.

I need to share seven random facts about myself:

1. I eat cold Chocolate and Cream Cheese frostings from the can as if they were a dessert.

2. I DO NOT like alcohol in my chocolates or desserts.

3. I always get nail art.

4. Halloween is my favorite holiday. (Is it really a holiday? Anyway, it's fun & stress-free!)

5. When reading a mystery novel, I always stop before the last few chapters and start over from the beginning. I like to figure out who the bad guy/gal is, so I re-read to make sure I didn't miss any details. (OK, perhaps that sounds silly to you.)

6. Montauk is my most favorite place and it's always been my dream to have a beach home there. A girl can dream, right?!?!?

7. As much as I love fruit, I CANNOT stand the smell, taste, or texture of bananas. Yucky!

I would like to pass these two blog awards to all my wonderful blog visiting friends. Please feel free to post the blog badges on your blogs.

A special thank you to Sandy and Lolis!

OCL74 - BOO

Happy Saturday!

This week's challenge at Our Craft Lounge is to use chipboard on your project.

Since I didn't have any chipboard embellishments, I decided to make my own. I used the Sizzix Lollipop dies to cut BOO from chipboard. It was scary running the chipboard through my BigKick. I'm not sure I would do it again. At least it still worked when I ran the letters through again with paper to cover the chipboard :)

Here's my card using OCL On the Fence stamp set and home-made chipboard embellishments:

I stamped the tree off on scrap paper first so it would be a bit fainter than the graveyard and bats. After inking the moon stamp in black, I sponged white over it to give it an eerier look. A little black sponging finished the scene before laying the card.

Happy crafting!

Challenges by AR -- 'Cheer me Up' Haute Tote

Happy Sunday!

Are you having fun with the first challenge at Challenges by AR? I made another Haute Tote. Did I tell you I love that template?!?!?

A little story before the picture...

Yesterday I was shoe shopping on-line and put an adorable pair of animal print sandals in my shopping cart. I got up to get my credit card and when I went to check-out I got a message that the shoes were not available! What's up with that? Why could I put them in my cart, but not buy them? Did someone else with a size 5 put the shoes in their cart too, but got to check out quicker than I tried to?

After my shoe disappointment, I decided to craft. I searched on-line for animal print paper like the shoes I tried to purchase. Well, I came across pink zebra paper (no, the shoes did not look like that!) and printed it out. Guess what? It looked great with Melon Mambo!

So, here is my 'cheer me up' haute tote:

Don't forget to comment each day on the Challenges by AR blog for a chance to win a 'Let's Vase It' template. Also, for each Wild Print template project you link you will receive a $1 gift certificate to Creations by AR. And, at the end of the first challenge week, one lucky participate will win two templates of their choice!

Thanks for stopping by!

Challenges by AR -- AR-070711 Wild Prints

Happy Thursday!

Today is the day! The first challenge has been posted at the Challenges by AR blog!

There is so much to tell you about the kick-off of our first challenge.

1. There will be a week-long celebration. Adela will be giving away one template each day for a week. Please leave a comment on the Challenge Team blog for your chance to win a fabulous, not yet released, template.

2. Each project that you link for our first challenge will earn you a $1 gift certificate to Creations by AR.

3. And, at the end of our first challenge period, one lucky winner will receive two templates of their choice!

Magdalena is our host for this first challenge and her theme is Wild Prints. I chose the Haute Tote template and Bo Bunny papers for a wild, tropical look.

I made a flip flop tag to hang off the front of the tote and hung the change purse inside.

And, I made a 'coaster' album to put inside the purse:

Adela's templates are available in PDF, SVG, and DXF formats, and come with detailed instructions. I used the PDF format and hand-cut my template. It was very easy to work with and assemble. The Haute Tote template is a must-have! I envision making it in many different patterns. It can be elegant or fun. How about seasonal? Or, making party favors? There are so many options for this template.

I look forward to read your comments about my Haute Tote and to see your creation(s) for this challenge. If you don't yet have a Creations by AR template, your first one is only a click away!

If you haven't been to the Challenges by AR blog yet, please hop over and join in on all the fun.

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to visit the other Challenge Team members to see their Wild Print creations and leave them some loving comments too.

PPA100

Happy Saturday!

This week is the 100th Challenge at Pals Paper Arts Blog and the theme is 'show us your favorite technique.' The Design Team is celebrating in grand style and will be giving away blog candy to one lucky, randomly chosen, crafter (US residents only).

Of course, I had to go with a 3D project! Here is the front view:

Side view:

And, picture with the contents:

Isn't that 'Chocolate Chip Cookie' tag adorable?!?!? I punched a two-inch circle, distressed the edges, sponged it, stamped it with a Judith Chocolate Chip stamp, took a 'bite' out of it with the scalloped circle punch, and attached it to the baggie with the new SU Baker's Twine. I had planned to put six cookies in the bag, but I baked before I crafted and there weren't many cookies left!

I printed the recipe in Word using RGB values for Chocolate Chip. The 'From the Kitchen of' is a retired SU stamp that I will never part with! It has seen lots of inky love over the years.

You have until Tuesday to enter a card or project using your favorite technique. Click on over to the PPA blog for all the details.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
