SQSC1 - Spooky

Happy Sunday!

I heard about a new sketch challenge blog through Sharon, who is on the design team of Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge.

Here is my card for the first challenge:

I stamped the witch's feet twice, cut out one pair of boots, and popped them up on the image. The witch's hat is also attached with pop dots. I plan to slide a gift card into the top of the bat border.

Supplies used: Perfect Plum and Pumpkin Pie CS, Cast a Spell DSP (retired), Black satin and Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbons, Wicked Cool stamp set, and MS border punch.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Paper Players Challenge #60

Happy Wednesday!

This week LeAnne has created a sketch for The Paper Players Challenge #60.

For my card, I used Lovely Lilac CS & ink and Flowers for You DSP:

The 'faux fabric' flowers were created with 1 1/4" and 1" circles (click here to see Carolina's video). I spritzed them with Champagne Shimmer Mist and used glitter brads for the centers. As the sentiment is a clear stamp (PTI's In Bloom), I curved it a bit on the block so it would follow the oval (Spellbinders' Classic Ovals Large and Classic Scalloped Ovals Large). To finish off the card, I used sheer, shimmery ribbon (M's), a Recollections Pearl Brad, Sizzlet Swirls (Old Olive), and a few pearls.

As I am 'bow challenged,' I am quite proud of this bow. But, I must share my five-attempts to make it! I have seen a few tutorials on making bows by wrapping a brad around looped ribbon. Looked easy--ha! My first attempt I didn't flatten the prongs all the way. My second attempt and the loops slipped out of my fingers before I could tighten the prongs. Attempts three and four involved tying the bow first with baker's twine, but the knot kept slipping. I wasn't about to give up yet, oh no. On the fifth attempt I was able to tie the bow with the baker's twine and then add the pretty pearl brad!

Thanks for stopping by (and you can now stop laughing at my bow story!).

Happy Sunday,

This week's challenge at Our Craft Lounge is to use lace on your card/project.

Here is my card:

Supplies used: Almost Amethyst and Old Olive CS, Tea Party DSP (in case I haven't mentioned it before, it is one of my all-time favorites!), SU Scallop Trim border punch, EKSuccess corner punch, Marianne Designs die (thanks Regina for letting me use it!), Sizzlet Oval die, pearls, lace, and OCL Tea Time stamp set.

Now, on to the exciting news!!! Did you see the new button on the top of my left sidebar??? I have been chosen to be a Guest Designer for Our Craft Lounge for the months of November and December!!! Please click here to see the OCL announcement.

PCP 3D-127 - Take Out for the Man

Happy Saturday!

This week's 3D Challenge at PCP is to create a mini pizza box for the man in your life. Adela is the host and she has provided her template free this week for the challenge.

I made (or attempted to make!) my pizza box into a pool table:

The pool balls (do they have a special name?) were made with a 5/8" punch and the JRS Small Alphabet stamp set. I plan to put a gift card inside and give it to my brother, Kevin, for his birthday. Yes, he loves to play pool.

The current challenge at Challenges by AR is a Masculine Birthday theme. You can combine the two masculine challenges. Click here to see my Masculine Sweet Treat. Hope you get to play along with us this week.

The Paper Players Challenge #59

Happy Friday,

This week The Paper Players have a color challenge -- Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, and Rose Red.

The scalloped half circle was created with a Magnolia Doohickeys die (thanks Regina!). The butterflies are an MS punch.

I originally intended to use Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, but when I was ready to assemble the card I realized I didn't have it with me, so I had to use White. I really should have started the card over and made the scalloped circle white too, but I was too lazy last night to begin anew. Hopefully, the pearls balance out the starkness of the ribbon with all the pink :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Challenges by AR - AR081811 Masculine Birthday

Happy Thursday,

Welcome to the the third challenge at Challenges by AR. Vicki is our host for this challenge and her theme is Masculine Birthday. I used the Cupcake Basket Template to create a masculine birthday treat.

The cupcake holder was made with Bazzill Ocean CS and Provo Craft patterned paper. I used a piece of gauze on the front with a life preserver brad and stamped images from the WPlus9 Guiding Light stamp set.

The rope is a retired SU product. I used glue dots on the knots to attach the rope to the sides and back of the cupcake holder. The little flag (HB sentiment is SU) finished the nautical theme.

The embellishment on the top was attached to one side only of the holder so that the handles could still be slid open.

Please visit the Challenges by AR blog to see the other challenge members' Masculine Birthday projects. I hope you get a chance to use a template and participate in this week's challenge. You may use any template for your project, but why not use a Creations by AR template? There are two free templates available for you to try. The challenge link will be open for one week and at the end of the challenge one lucky participant will win a template of her/his choice from Creations by AR.

I look forward to seeing your Masculine Birthday projects!

Happy crafting!

With Love

Happy Monday!

It has been awhile since I have inked up my Greenhouse Garden set. I thought this image would be perfect to combine with a daisy embellishment.

Basic Black and So Saffron make a pretty, summer color combo. I hand-trimmed the bottoms of the Top Note dies to coordinate with the punched border. A simple sentiment (Love & Care) along with a few pearls and a button finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by.

And, the second fold reveals three gift tags:

Fun Visit

Happy Monday!

Last week was busy and fun! My blog friend Regina visited! We shared three full days of crafting.

Here is a picture of the fabulous gifts she brought for me:

Besides the boxes being pretty, they were filled with chocolates. Love the Top Note toppers with the daisies (and the chocolates inside the baggies!).

Here I what I had for Regina:

I used Pink Pirouette and Rich Razzleberry. btw, 12 Hershey Nuggets fit inside the Top Note Purse.

I baked a cheesecake and creme caramels for our afternoon crafting breaks. Wolfgang was in charge of meals.

Regina teaching me how to make those lovely daisies (Sizzix Daisies #2 die):

The birthday daisy bouquet Regina made for me:

Such a pretty bouquet deserved a new vase. I used the CreationsbyAR Lets Vase It template.

My first daisy:

Not bad, wouldn't you say?!?!? I wanted a Fall flower so I used Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango.

And, a picture of Regina's last night here--we had a wonderful dinner:

In addition to daisies, Regina made a gorgeous Wedding Exploding Box (check it out here), a birthday card, and a first day of school card. And, I made a mini album for my brother, Kevin.

I hope we get the opportunity to visit with each other again. Thank you Regina!
