Advent Wreath

Happy Sunday!

Today's post is a surprise I made for Wolfgang. Every year he comments that he would like to get an Advent Wreath (it is a big tradition in Germany), but we never do. So, this year I made one for him.

Here is the photo from above:

And, different side views:

The luminaries (Old Olive CS and Dashing DSP) are 2 3/4 square and the rosettes (Real Red CS and Dashing DSP) are 2 1/2 in diameter. I made the ring (cardboard covered with Old Olive CS) 9" with a 6" cut-out. The tree is a template (smallest in the trio) from Creations by AR and the bird is a template (printed at 50%) from Lynn Pratt's blog. Both are made with Merry Moments DSP. I spritzed the poinsettias (5-petal punch) with Champagne shimmer mist and the glimmer brads add to the sparkle. The wreaths are from the Winter Wishes Stitched Felt set. In case you are wondering, the red and green battery tea lights are from Walgreens (package of six for $5.00).

Thanks for stopping by.

OCL93 - Cute Critters & First-Ever Black Friday Sale

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. And, if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a very enjoyable (and crafty!) Thursday. My Thanksgiving was wonderful and crafty--we went out to eat and made a stop at M's!

Today's card is for Our Craft Lounge's weekly challenge. This week's theme is cute critters. I made a Christmas shaker card using the adorable OCL Sea-sons Greetings clear stamp set.

The card base is 5 x 5 (Real Red CS). The shaker globe is recycled plastic packaging from a roll of red line tape. Filling it with craft sand rather than snow put a 'sea'sonal twist to the card. The images were stamped on water color paper and colored using a blender pen and markers. I put some Sugar Sparkly Fluff on the pom-pom and trim of the hat.

This card will be going to my brother and nieces (they love turtles, fish, snakes, etc.).

I hope you are inspired to create a 'cute critters' card or project for this week's OCL93 challenge.
As a reminder, OCL stamps are not required to participate, but you get extra points for using them. Each month, one random participant will be chosen to win an OCL stamp set of their choice! You have until Thu., Dec. 1 @ 11:59 PM to link your card or project for this week's challenge.

FYI: Our Craft Lounge is having their first-ever Black Friday sale! Here are the details:

FLLCNOEL19 - Round Like a Wreath

Happy Wednesday!

Today's card is for Flourishes' Monthly Christmas Challenge. This month's challenge is round like a wreath.

I made a snow globe card (SCS tutorial here). Hope this shape counts!

The snow globe base is Marina Mist CS and the snowflake paper is Heidi Grace. The snowman, snowflakes, and sentiment are all from Flourishes' Warm Winter Wishes stamp set.

You can read all the details for the challenge here.

OCL92 - Thank You

Happy Friday!

Welcome to my OCL92 post. This week the OCL Design Team would like you to use a Thank You sentiment on your card or project. I thought a Fall-themed card would be perfect for this challenge.

Using Old Olive CS, I created a standard-sized card to reflect a front door. The wreath, from the OCL Giving Thanks clear stamp set, was stamped on watercolor paper, then colored with markers and a blender pen. I stamped the bow a second time, went over it with the Sakura Glitter Pen to give it a sheer ribbon look, and popped it up on the wreath. The 'From Our House to Yours' sentiment, from the OCL Sweet Holiday clear stamp set, was stamped on Very Vanilla. And, last but not least, I stamped the 'Thank You' sentiment, from the OCL Merry Wishes clear stamp set, on So Saffron, cut it out with a Spellbinders leaf die, and inked the edges. I used a scrap of Brushed Gold CS for the door hanger and added a gold brad for the door knob.

This card was so fun to create. I really like that I could make a Fall card using two Christmas stamp sets along with a Fall stamp set.

I hope you are inspired to create a Thank You card or project for the OCL92 Challenge this week. As a reminder, OCL stamps are not required to participate, but you get extra points for using them. Each month, one random participant will be chosen to win an OCL stamp set of their choice! You have until Thu., Nov. 24 @ 11:59 PM to link your card or project for this week's challenge.

Thank you for stopping by and happy crafting!

Spooky Houses

Happy Wednesday,

I know Halloween has long passed, but I just realized I never posted the spooky houses I made for the girls that live behind my mother.

This is the front view:

The back view:

And, a picture with the matching easel post-it note holders:

I purchased the Spooky House tutorial here. They were made with Bazzill CS & misc. Halloween patterned paper, and the SU Wicked Cool stamp set.

The girls absolutely love Harry and are thrilled whenever they get asked to watch him. My mother wanted to give each of them a manicure gift certificate as a thank you.

Here is what I made for Katie:

I used Bazzill CS & October Afternoon patterned paper. The sentiment is from the Gina K. A Charmed Life stamp set and the template is from Creations by AR. Back in July I posted this nail kit and that is the one my mother gave Chloe along with her gift certificate.

Here are the thank you cards the girls made us:

OCL91 - Once Upon a Time...

Happy Friday!

I would like to thank everyone your wonderful comments last Friday on my first official OCL post.

This week the OCL design team is challenging you to be inspired by a fairy tale or fable. Can you guess what inspired me?

The images and sentiments are from the OCL Sweet Holiday clear stamp set. The adorable house and candy cane were stamped with Staz-On Jet Black on SU Naturals White CS, colored with markers, and spritzed with Champagne Shimmer Mist. Do you see the sparkly snow? It it is Sugar Sparkly Fluff. OCL offers this fun product in 19 colors. The sentiments were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and sponged after being hand-snipped. I used Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive CS, along with retired SU DSP, for the easel treat holder (tutorial from the I4U Christmas 2011 Edition).

I hope you get inspired by a fairy tale or fable and join us for the OCL91 Challenge. As a reminder, OCL stamps are not required to participate, but you get extra points for using them. Each month, one random participant will be chosen to win an OCL stamp set of their choice! You have until Thu., Nov. 17 @ 11:59 PM to link your card or project for this week's challenge.

Happy crafting!

OCL90 - Distress It

Happy Friday!

Today is my first post for my two-month Design Team term with Our Craft Lounge. This week's challenge, OCL90, is to distress your card/project. For my card, I used the OCL Crafty Cling Rubber Single, Fall Scarecrow. This set includes one large image and two sentiments.

I stamped the scarecrow on Very Vanilla with Staz-On Timber Brown. The face, straw, and post were colored with markers and the clothing (Bazzill CS & SU DSP) was paper-pieced. The card base is Dusty Durango, the striped paper is from a holiday paper stack, and I added a layer of burlap. I used the distressing tool on all the layers and sponged with Versafine Vintage Sepia. The sentiment was also stamped with Timber Brown.

Please visit the OCL Blog for all the details on this week's challenge. I hope you get a chance to play along. OCL stamps are not required, but you get extra points for using them. You have until Thu., 11/10 @ 11:59 PM to link your entry on the OCL blog. You may enter as many times as you like. Each month one random participant is chosen to win an OCL stamp set of their choice.

Happy crafting & distressing!
