Christmas Chair Place Cards

Happy Thursday!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday.

Today I have some Chair Place Cards (CbyAR Have a Seat template) to share.

First up are the three I made for my good blog friend, Ann.  They were cut by hand as I had a problem with the blade in my new Silhouette Portrait.

Next up are two of the four that I cut with my Silhouette Portrait once the replacement blade arrived.

Here is a picture of my table for Christmas dinner:

And, a picture of the trifles I made for Christmas Eve (the smaller one is a sugar-free version):

Supplies used:  Always Artichoke, Brushed Gold, Cherry Cobbler, Close to Cocoa, and Very Vanilla CS (Ann's chairs), Brushed Silver, Old Olive, Real Red, and White CS (my chairs), Liquid Applique, Pearls, Rhinestones, and Stickles, EKSuccess Snowflake and MS Holly Punches, Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday and Layered Poinsettia Dies, SU Holiday Collection Framelits and Round, Scalloped Round, and Stocking Punches, Flourishes Warm Winter Wishes, HC Petite Poinsettia, OCL Jolly Ornaments, and SU Fireside Christmas and Scensational Season Stamp Sets.

IBSIC #39 - A Christmas Eve Cake

Happy Wednesday!

This week's IBSIC Challenge is a Christmas Photo/Color Challenge (Sage Green, Red, and White/Cream).

Here is the inspiration photo:

And, here is my Christmas Eve Cake:

The poinsettias have a lot of dimension and sparkle.  I put name tags on each slice so I could put specific goodies inside for each person (i.e., Joe is diabetic and only eats plain, dark chocolate, Wolfgang likes dark chocolate mints, etc).  The tags are attached with glue dots to the cake top.  The 3D trees are attached with pop dots on the bottom so the cake top can easily slide behind the tree.

I used my new Silhouette Portrait (early Christmas present) to cut the cake tops (Creations by AR Piece 'o Cake template).  What a time saver from the last cake I made (here).  I still did cut the cake bottoms by hand as I have not yet mastered the right settings for cutting through SU CS.  I wasted five sheets on another project.  The Silhouette company said I may have received a defective blade and they are mailing me a new one.

Supplies used:  Mellow Moss, Real Red, and GP White CS, Mellow Moss DSP, Spellbinders 2010 Holiday Tree and Layered Poinsettias Dies, Fiskars Small and Large Tag Punches, SU Petals-a-Plenty EF, Baker's Twine, Rhinestones, Stickles, and HC Petite Poinsettia Stamp Set.

Hmmm, I wonder, will I still need to make trifle for Christmas Eve?!?!?

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploding Gift Card Holder Box for Mom

Happy Sunday!

Today I have the Exploding Gift Card Holder Box that I made for my mother for Christmas.

I wish you could see the poinsettias in real--they are so pretty and sparkly.

The middle holds a gift card and there are snowflakes on acetate in each corner.  The pictures are my grandparents, my nieces, my parents, and a family photo of my mother, brothers, and myself.

The exploding box is 12 x 12 scored and cut at 4 all around, the gift card holder is 3 1/4 x 7, scored at 3 1/2 (the opening was made with a 1 circle punch, and the 'wedge' holding up the gift card holder is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, scored at 1, 2, and 3.  The top is 4 1/8 with a 1 side.  The acetate for the snowflakes is 1/4 x 4, scored at 1/2 and inserted in slits in the corners of the mat.  The pictures are 3 3/4 x 3 3/4.

Supplies used:  Real Red, Shimmery White, Very Vanilla, and Wild Wasabi CS, Holly Berry Bouquet DSP, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, and Versafine Vintage Sepia Inks, SU Spellbinders Layered Poinsettias and Fleur de Lis Squares Dies, SU Northern Frost Decorative Strip Die, Rhinestones and Stickles, HC Petite Poinsettia, OCL Jolly Ornaments, and SU Fireside Christmas Stamp Sets.

I will be linking today's project to the following two challenges:

IBSIC #39, which is a Christmas Photo/Color Challenge (Sage Green, Red, and White/Cream)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - What's Your Favourite?? (my favorite is Spellbinders Dies)

12 Tags of Christmas, Day 4 - My Versions

Happy Tuesday!

Have you been following the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist on Ellen Hutson's Blog?  Each day a beautiful feminine tag and tutorial are featured.  Today I have two versions of Jennifer McGuire's tag from Day 4.

I used the plastic packaging from a set of Spellbinders Dies for the clear tags.  The Spellbinders Die did not cut through the heavy plastic, but it made a very deep impresssion that was easy to cut with paper snips.

Supplies used:  Bashful Blue & Pink Pirouette CS, White Glimmer & Glitter Papers, Silver Metal Tape Sheet, Marina Mist, Melon Mambo and Staz-On Opaque Cotton White Inks, EKSuccess and MS Snowflake Punches, SU Oval and Scalloped Oval Punches, Marianne Creatables Sleigh Die, Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday and Labels 10 Dies, Rhinestones, Wired Tinsel, and Flourishes Christmas Classics, Sleigh Ride and Warm Winter Wishes Stamp Sets.

Advent Calendar

Happy Monday!

The house is decorated, the cards have been started, and Wolfgang's Advent Calendar is finished!

I took the picture last evening so the lights would show.  Of course, it is much nicer in real.  I have to say, I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

Some details:  I started with a Kaisercraft Beyond the Page Advent Calendar kit.  It was a big job painting and assembling the pieces.  I used Craft Smart Gloss Acrylic Paint and sponge brushes.  The calendar box took two coats of Tuscan Red and the numbers four coats of White.  Luckily, this paint dried quickly.

I hot glued the string of lights (it is a necklace that I bought at M's) and hid the switch behind the fireplace (3x3x1).  The mantel is adorned with branch punches and poinsettias.  The Comfy Sofa was cut at 66% (the bottom slides out for the '25 box.'  Our names for the stockings and the mini picture were printed in Word.  The Noel banner was 'strung' with Baker's Twine.

Supplies used:  Basic Black, Brushed Silver, Crushed Curry, Kraft, and Shimmery White CS, Various brands of PP, Versafine Satin Red Ink, Punches:  EKSuccess Star, MS Branch, and SU Stocking, Sizzix Teddy Bear Die, Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornaments, 2010 Holiday Trees, Fleur de Lis Squares, and Layered Poinsettia Dies, Creations by AR Comfy Sofa Template, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Rhinestones, Ornament Light Necklace, and IBS Fancy Alphabet Stamps.

Challenges:  I will be linking the Advent Calendar to IBSIC #37 (Inspiration Photo along with the colors Green, Red, and White) and Simon Says Stamp Challenge (Anything Goes).

Here is the IBSIC Inspiration Photo:

Speaking of IBSIC, I will be a Guest Designer on January 10!  Whoo hoo!!!
