LNS 230 - Summer Time!

Happy Monday!

It's Monday and time for a new LNS Challenge.  This week we are challenging you to create a project that screams Summer time!

What screams Summer time like a frozen drink at the beach?!?!?

Awhile back I saw a tutorial for a Lemonade Stand, but the finished card was only 4 x 4.  I reworked it to a finished A2-sized Tiki Bar.

Start with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of CS (Soft Suede), scored at 5 1/2.  For the opening, cut in 7/8 on both sides and down 3 1/4.  Now, score across at 3 1/4, between the two 7/8 cuts.  Leave one score and cut across the other one.  It will look like this:

Cut the flap so it is flush with the bottom of the card.  That will be your bar top.

You will need two roof pieces (Crumb Cake), one cut at 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 and the other 2 x 4 1/4.  Score both in the middle and make thin cuts with your paper scissors.

The entire Tiki Bar and Roof pieces were sponged.  Now adhere the shorter roof piece on top of the longer piece and then adhere the entire roof to the bar.

I fussy cut the drinks, leaving a piece on the bottom of each that is scored across the bottom of the drink.  Punch out 7/8 scalloped circles for coasters and cut slits in the middle.  Your pieces will look like this:

Push the tabs through the slits, fold on the scores, and use glue dots to attach them under the coasters.  I also used glue dots to attach the coasters to the bar top.

Here is how it looks from the back:

The Tiki Bar is self-standing and also folds flat.  How neat is that?!?!?

Now that you have seen my Summer Time card/project, hop on over to the LNS Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT created.  While you are there, check out the rules for participating.  The challenge is open for two weeks so you have plenty of time to create a card, scrapbook page, or 3D project that screams Summer time.  Please remember to link directly to your Challenge Project and to link back to the Challenge Blog in your posting.  This challenge theme is so fun you must play along!

IBS August Blog Hop - Masculine

Happy Thursday!

This month's IBS Blog Hop is a masculine theme (not easy for me!).

I stamped the background map in black and embossed with clear powder, then sponged the blue and brown over the image and distressed the edges.

The compass and anchor were fussy-cut and attached with pop dots.

TSSC275 - Spooky

Happy Thursday!

Today's card is for the TSSC #275.  Here is the sketch:

And, here is my card:

After sponging the background, I stamped the fence and cat images.  I then stamped the four images from the fence, fussy-cut, and attached them with pop-dots.

Birthday Cards

Happy Thursday!

Today I am sharing two beautiful cards that I received for my birthday.

First up is the card that Regina sent:

On the left is the pretty box the card was in and on the right is the front of the card.  Look at all the layered flowers.  The pink and white CS is shimmery.

Now, for the card open:

More beautiful flower and die cut details along with pretty pearl flourishes. The pull-out tags are stamped with SU flower images, sentiments, and a hand-written birthday greeting.

Next is the card from Diana:

The patterned paper is a very pretty color combination along with the Melon Mambo CS.

Diana also made me a purse (in addition to paper crafting, she sews!):

Thank you both for the amazing birthday cards and gifts.  If it wasn't for crafting, I would never have met these two wonderful friends.

FM122 - Friend Tag

Happy Tuesday!

This week's Friday Mashup is:

Create a tag (as an embellishment or a tag itself)

or

Use the color combo Crisp Canteloupe, Soft Sky, Primrose Petals, and Bermuda Bay

or Mash it Up and do both

As I only have Bermuda Bay from that color combo, I went with making a tag:

The finished tag is 3 1/8 x 5 1/8.

FM121 - Circus Train for Dylan

Happy Wednesday!

The current Friday Mashup Challenge is to use Polka Dots or the word Happy, or mash it up and use both on your project.  I went with just polka dots and made a Circus Train for my friend's son:

It was hard to photograph the entire set, so here are two close-ups:

The monkey screamed to be hung by his tail and the Googlie Eyes are too cute.

Here is the flip side of the Circus Cars:

I thought spelling out Dylan's name on the back of the Circus Cars was a fun idea.

As I am not giving this to Dylan until his birthday party in October, I only filled one baggie with Animal Crackers just for picture taking.  Now I need to make a coordinating card.

I originally saw this idea on Dawn's blog.  She used stamps and dies that I don't have, so I had to get creative.  As the die I used is larger than the Chalk Talk Die, I changed the size of the box.  My CS measures 4 3/4 x 3, scored at 1 1/8 on both ends of the 4 3/4 side and 3/4 on both ends of the 3 side.  I also doubled up on the wheels so they would be sturdier.  I glued two 1-inch circles back to back and then added the 3/4 DSP circles.

This project is so cute and is quick to make.  Let me know if you give it a try.
